Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

Well, thanks to everybody, but particularly Dave, Peter and Norman, Lydia is now out of the water and safely on her trailer in the yard.

Cheers, Jem.

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

Hi David,

I'm Jem, short for Jeremy. Thanks for the tip, I'll try to call Dave.

Hope it doesn't blow off tonight, being a high spring just before 11pm.

Cheers, Mr Jem M.

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

Got my trailer... Just put into a gap in yard near gate. Hope maybe can find out if that ok for now, or where I should go, but seen nobody yet. Need to male adjustment, bit still hoping that somebody will be about sat to do the Merlo (?) and help me recover her. Just got my finger crossed the gale i...

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

Was thinking the same David... So a change of plan has me feeling very poor and going long way tomorrow to pick up a proper trailer after all. Will probably take home tomorrow night, but I'll need to track down David G or anyone who could help me find a space in the yard, and at some point in the su...

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

I hadn't thought of it being possible to lift, though perhaps insurance would put a nay on that. The fellow selling it also has a liberty: Managed to get a complete trailer set, so selling the spare piggyback, so hopefully can show me where the arms go. Says it can be kind of nudged around corners, ...

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

I was meaning to pick this up last week, but ships in the night and all that, it never happened... However, if folk here think it would be suitable for the yard (as I've already been told by some), and I can get space in there... I'd try to get it this week. Trolley 002sm.jpg It's actually the speci...

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

Good stuff Roger. Especially as... ...especially as she drifted (rapidly) towards, and then thankfully, past Lydia. Phew! I was very very relieved to see her on her mooring after she appeared to disappear off the edge of the webcam pic. Glad to hear that C'E9 is undamaged once again. I notice she di...

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

Has the cat been taken off it's mooring? Can't see now. Can't see Lydia either, but looks like a mooring line angling upwards just to edge of screen, so guess still there- hope to get out to check soon.

Re: Gonzalo at Glasson.

Had a nervous moment this morning, not seeing Lydia on her mooring, but she's jst showing up on the edge of the cam scan now, so luckily still there, phew.

Now back home and hoping to pick up the trolley this weekend, and then can get her out...

PS hope to be up this Saturday if the weather is OK...Working on an underwater Magnetometer to hopefully help Idris find his chain, early days but breadboard seems to work with a few snags to try and sort out.. :?: Don't everybody have a gradiometer sitting in their sheds? http://www.seatron...

Re: Moorings stream cam

Great stuff John.

Was looking like a beautiful morning, with what looked like a light mist rising and a flock of Canada Geese passing the cam, but... no boat. Now showing and I am happy again.

Cheers, Jem.

And lo and behold she's back!

Thank you... or maybe this is some intermittent thing? Not always panning so far?

Re: Moorings stream cam

I've been making good use of this recently, now that Lydia is on her mooring and I am away. I think it is really useful for my peace of mind seeing her sitting out there waiting for me... But... Have the settings changed John? I have not checked in for a few days while without internet access (am on...

Re: Could this have been the Babagee?

Thanks for the info David.

I was down in Falmouth a few weeks ago on a cycling holiday, but we took the ferry from St Mawes to Falmouth, bypassing Penryn, which is almost a shame; would've been interested to see in the flesh, and really would've liked more time in the area.

Re: Could this have been the Babagee?

That thing in the opening post is incredibly scary. Almost the superlative definition of 'throwing good money after bad'. I can't tell, but is there any fendering on the side facing the quay? (I daren't say port side); any roll will surely result in the shiny timber (ply?) superstructure getting wre...

Re: Piel Trips - dates for the diary

Well, got to the boat and had missed the inner gate, only to find the tender outboard wasn't working right, so wouldn't have made it anyway also. Hope Chablis had a good trip, and yourself if you go tomorrow Duncan. We won't be down tomorrow though I'll be trying to escape the marina as soon as I ge...

Re: Piel Trips - dates for the diary

In case you see this, I think potential F6 is a bit much for our shakedown being a new boat to us, and new waters (new beyond the light, and not on a humongous commercial vessel, that is...). So it's likely just going to be get out of marina and onto mooring, with a small chance of a pootle to the r...

Re: Piel Trips - dates for the diary

Thanks Duncan and Ian. We'll go down to Lydia later and see if it looks doable for us. If we decide to go for it, I'll try to contact folk... What's best, a call to the club, or is there a radio channel the club usually uses? Uh-oh, just realised I've not sorted the VHF licence for the boat (assumin...

Re: Piel Trips - dates for the diary

Evening folk, Maybe too late, but I think my boat is finally ready, and was wondering about tagging onto this tomorrow- partly to have my 1st sail on Lydia as one in company, but I don't know the logistics and methods that are involved in this trip. RIght now she's in Glasson Basin, and was going to...

For Sale Folksong 25 'Project'

Folksong 25 JL Seagull- the pale blue long keeler near the fence. As with so many, I had plans for this, but my work has been getting crazier the last couple of years, so I have hardly had a chance to touch her over the last one, and it's a shame. Now though, we're in the process of moving home (in ...

Re: Local Boat Tradesfolk

Hi Doug, that's the name, thanks. He's the one I sent an email to but no reply. It was admittedly a long-winded and vague email! And I have been told that because he's good, he's hard to get hold of... When I get home from this job in a couple of weeks, perhaps I should try to call instead. Cheers, ...

Re: Local Boat Tradesfolk

Thanks Glyn. When I get home I'll pop down to see if I can find him at Skipool- is he at the yard near the entrance? Would be wary of the need of taking the boat there- trailer needs care- was brought down from Glasgow but bearings were getting hot. The fellow at Glasson Marina suggested their Alist...
