Until John has Wifi, he asked us to put his texts on the forum.

Yesterday eve he said
"Hi Dave and Chris. We picked up a mooring at Piel 1900. Had to motor to Lune 1, then a fast sail to Piel. Norman asked me to check his mooring, it looks ok. Cheers John and Bob"
Then later
"There's 4 boats moored here. We picked up the most sheltered one (not GSC)as it is still blowing 20/25knts.

The alternater /Waterpump belt broke

Unread post by davidb »

Hi Dave Chris,

Quite an eventful Day ,Motoring out Kirckcudbright 0600 with the tide ,the alternater /Waterpump belt broke , We managed to sail to Burrow hd. then seas went glassey for a couple of hours, Then has if to answer our prayers a S breeze came , We managed to sail to Drummore in Luce bay before the tide turned against us at 1800 . We had to sail into to this little harbour with no engine a scot ish fisherman gave us a tow to the harbour wall . Dru mmore is a small fish ing village . On making enquieis about finding a new belt for the engine the first person we asked could not have more helpfull , - he drove us to some of his local friends
where one guy took the the belt off a kit car he had built which matched . Wow the Scots are my new best friends

Yes, indeed, we anchored off last year and couldn't see the entrance at all. Screenshot from Google it looked a lot busier back then:

Hi C & D We moored at Fort Agustus Sunday night then a nice sail along Loch Ness. to spend the night at Inverness.
The facilities and the staff along the Caladonian were really first class . We locked out for 10.00 am this morn and had a superb sail to Findochty where we are now docked . Strong S. winds tomorrow may limit us to reach Fraserburgh before turning south.

Hi Chris Dave

We have got to our final destination with Penny at her home in St Andrew's it's beautiful historic place with a tiny harbour. The new owner is a smashing gentleman HIs last boat was a LM 27, he is going to drop us off at the station in the morning to get a train back to Lancaster.

Summery
Distance logged 522 kts
Highlights
Caledonian canal, built 1804/1822 Telford creation 60ml 29 locks ,I think Colin and the crew of Ocean Pheonix who passed through last year would agree..
