Good night at the Club

Unread post by valsimpkin »

What a lovely evening at the Club last night - I'd had my doubts about going out in the boat on Saturday morning cos there wasn't really much wind and it was pretty bloomin' parky, but was very nice to see the footage John got with his drone - what an amazing bit of kit! Lovely to see the estuary and the saltmarsh from that angle - hope you'll be putting some bits of it up somewhere to view again, John?

And then the rest of the evening - smashing - live music - you can't beat it. Thanks to everyone who came and played, sang or just listened - lovely evening. Cheers to Chris B for putting it all in motion

Yes, I texted John a big thankyou, but it wasn't just John was it? It was all the intrepid boaters and musicians who made it happen, and Frank for manning the Bar.
As Mick Bull says, we could have regular music sessions on a particular Saturday of each month??? Along with a Jacob's join, or pie and peas or something??? In the new spirit of "Not leaving it all to Val", it's up to all of us to come up with ideas, and ask for help if needed to execute the plan.
I'm sorry that we couldn't get up sooner to test run the technical side (D thought it was all set up ready, but you never know). I had 30 people at my house for Mum's 85th party, so we couldn't get away earlier. This meant that we had no sound available to show more of John's films. Forum users may have already seen a link posted on 3rd Jan by Big John, and people who came to our film and photo session in January saw some then.
D has got it sorted now, I won't try to explain technical details!

Boring technical Details

Hi,

I have just tested my theory on the lack of sound on Saturday night, by connecting the laptop to our telly with the HDMI cable. Shortly after the HDMI was plugged in to it, the laptop ( and its headphone jack ) went silent.

In the past, up at the Club we have always used the SVGA lead from the laptops to the projector, and their headphone jacks for the sound, with no probs.

So that's progress for you.

When I'm next at club, I shall see if there is an audio output on the projector to feed the amplifier, because modern laptops and tablets are being sold with no SVGA connector. This was the problem using John's modern laptop.
