Treasure Hunt

Unread post by Michael »

One Saturday this summer on one of the Social Sailing days I wonder if we could organise a treasure hunt on the river?

Has anyone any ideas on what the treasure could be?

Could we fasten things to buoys? The lighthouse? Put clues ashore at Sunderland? Up the creeks?

Treasure Hunt

Michael

From my experience in the Halifax Canoe Club we have an easter egg hunt on our yearly trip to Angelsey.

Treasure hunts are better when collecting as many of the same items to make up a totals tally, pieces of eight could be the solution although I would suggest floating plastic fish/lobsters/crabs you can buy these from Blackpool for less than a £1, no doubt, re-use them again etc and it becomes an annual event. This will then anable you to distribute prizes more fairly and leave no one out as they say, in addition you create a social event at the end to laugh and joke at the experience and recognise all.

I have found that if you have actual prizes out and about, one team wins them all and everyone else feels rejected?? especially the young and inexperienced people who you want on our side in the long term.

That is my thoughts and hope it helps in your planning.

I suggest you call it "Deadliest Catch By Sail!" or something daft like that
