2009 Programme

Unread post by Michael »

I've prepared a dinghy programme for 2009 which you should receive with your receipt. I can send out electronic copies and I should have the programme on the website before the new year.
I've listed racing for Saturdays and Sundays up to 15th March. I find that in inclement weather it helps me to get on the water if there is a race scheduled. The Saturday races will be less formal than the Sunday ones although they'll both be DIY ones.
With the exception of the regatta I've kept all the trophy races to one day - Sunday.
For spring, summer and autumn there are Fun Sailing Days which we/you'll organise on an ad hoc basis. We will include a capsize drill weekend and man-overboard exercises.
You'll notice the word 'Mentoring' appearing, that's a euphemism for training days, just hoping, as we're not RYA qualified instructors, we'll be insured by the Club for helping members. I've picked days for this when there's no water in the river and hopefully we'll be allowed on the basin. They all start at 1000 hours and when it's too windy we'll organise something in the clubhouse. We are having a 'Mentoring Committee' meeting in February, followed by a general meeting soon after.
DIY is not as bad as it sounds because we already have a way of automatically operating the lights and we're hoping for an automatic horn blowing system. We may even have a recording camera to record the times.
Recently we've had volunteers for the Rescue Boat, if this continues we're well on the way to success. Perhaps members willing to do Rescue Boat and OOD duties will register in this topic.

Mentoring on the basin abandoned!
Sorry folks I ran ahead of the Training committee who decided on Tuesday that we would not use the basin for training this year.
Sorry.
