Thank You from Ian

Dear All,

Many thanks for a magnificent turn-out for the work party, we must have had at least 45 members turn up, possibly an all time record!

What was scheduled just as a general tidy up soon expanded into a massive assault on the club grounds.

Jobs completed included fixing much needed rubber fendering on the jetty, waging total war on the trees and vegetation around the club boundary, litter picking resulted in an incredible 7 bags of litter picked up- just with a litter picker!, a long over-due sort out and cutting up of abandoned trailers-which soon turned the bund into what resembled the Bombay boat breakers.

Other much needed and thankless jobs included weeding the flags and walkways around the clubhouse, and waging war on the dreaded black spot in the ladies changing room. Once professionally repainted, and the paint work refreshed it all looked grand!

The inside of the clubhouse windows also came in for a blitzing and thanks to the strimmer gang we now have a complete 360 degree horizon over the river.

A special big thank you to the galley gang who managed to recreate the equivalent of the biblical ‘feeding of the five thousand’ and with regular issues of tea kept the ‘army’ in action until the final spectacular - the burning of the ‘swallow’- (a long overdue relic resident on the bund -good job it was foggy!) brought the day to a close.

A big thank you to everyone!
