Cars for towing

Post by bryan sadler »

My trusty SAAB 900 is now too thirsty for my pocket and needs to be replaced by something secondhand but much, much more frugal. Just how frugal/small can a car get and still tow a Mirror/GP14 ? Having not bought a car since 1991 I am a bit out of date. Any ideas?

Why haven't I finished painting the Red Tractor ? Have injured my foot.

Hi Brian
Acording to the Nissan Micra SHAPE (not the new micra) handbook

The 1 ltr manual transmition can tow a max of a 600kg braked trailer or a 310kg un braked trailer

The 1.3ltr manual transmition can tow a max of a 750kg braked trailer or a 310kg un braked trailer.
both with a max nose weight of 50kgs

just some extra info on the micra (newer, more rounded shape 1993 to 2000), they can return 50-60mpg as well!
a pal of mine bought one for about £800, and they are really cheap to insure as well.
