Forum Updating

Following yesterday's outage, we have restored it, but no update yet.

Will try again, just one step at a time. Its a steep learning curve but I hope its going to be worth it.

I'll do a blog post about it for future reference, but will keep it private access, if anyone is interested or knows about this sort of stuff and wants to help, please let me know.

Here is the sort of stuff I am up against! :

" I chanced it and used the Advanced Update (Expert users) method this time. By far the quickest of the update methods when updating within the 3.3.11's series! Just some grammatical nuances in the Install text, but other than that, this is the goto method for us from now on.

My reasoning for risking a process that I'm not an expert at had to do with modifications to enough of our PHP files that the other processes are/would have been a lot of work.

I just followed the instructions as a script to follow and perform. Anything not mentioned, you can ignore. I simply used Firefox to perform the install/updates, sFTP for uploading the Install, Vendor folders and subsequent modified files, and in a little over an hour I was done. No hitches from exporting backups on the Host's site to Congratulations!
