Family Section (beginners improvers)

Unread post by Alison »

Hello All
Just to let you all know we'll have our first meeting on 26/April at 10pm in the club. This will be a planning session and rigging session /reminder for those that need it. So far my proposed dates are;
10/5
21/6
23/8
20/9
But these are subject to the meeting.
There has not been any response to going to a formal course so that idea has been ditched.

The first 2008 session on the basin took place on Saturday 10th May.
Several members benefitted including Rebecca and Jessica Sharples, Jason, Leonie, Max, Meredith & Alex (sorry if I've rembered A's name incorrectly) Kennedy.
Rebecca and Jessica had their first session in sole charge of a Topper. Rebecca went on to go solo on the Topper on the river on Sunday afternoon.
We had the use of two Toppers, a Comet and a GP14 provided respectively by John Wood, Michael Swarbrick, Alison Rayson and Jason Kenendy and teh Club rescue boat.
We could have done with a little more wind but everyone seemed to enjoy and benefit from the session.
Ivan Haslam, Ian & Barbara Sharples and myself assisted Alison.

After the EGM on Sunday seven dinghies took to the water.
Gentle breeze that snapped up as thunder approached.
Not knowing names - and forgetting others - I asked young Rebecca Sharples to do the legwork and get the names, got them all save one who wandered off (Michael Speight) :
Rebecca Sharples in a Topper, only second time in a Topper and first time solo Topper on the Lune. Did very well, excellent landing despite wind and tide.
Jessica & Ian Sharples with Scott Kerry in GP14
Alison and Sue in the dayboat
Andy and Helen GP 14
Chris Ellery Mirror
Bryan Sadler Mirror
Michael Speight Gull
Cheers, Bryan Sadler
