Covid-19 and Impact on GSC

Hi All,
I don't really want to take a 'high and mighty' position with respect to dictating what is acceptable at the club at this time. The club doesn't and shouldn't work like that. Since my post on 19th March much has happened and many people have died. I guess we're halfway through the first wave and a similar number will succumb before the next wave starts.

Initial 'Lock Down' was declared on 24 March and the following Government strap line issued:

Stay at Home.
Protect the NHS.
Save lives.

I have purposefully not attempted to interpret this Government direction in terms of GSC activities since then. The Government’s message was, and is, crystal clear.

Anything I interpreted into my words would have weakened that overarching message, which has since been strengthened by giving the Police the power to impose fines for people undertaking non-essential journeys.

Yes we'd all like to be working our boats and enjoying the spring at the club. But that's not acceptable at this time, given that hobbies are non-essential and venturing out increases overall risk to us all, whether directly or indirectly. If and when the Government advice is amended we can revisit our stance for GSC. As always the Government's edict takes precedence.

Stay safe + regards to all !

Roger

Well put Roger
I only look at the camera occasionally but have seen boats on the slip and bodies up for 3 days and using the club house now that's not on.
Keep safe
