Forum Updated

Unread post by davidb »

.
Good Afternoon,

We have been updating the forum software this week and it didn't go at all well, but at least we have kept a lot of its content.

There is still a bit of tweaking to do then it should be fit to use again, also the backup and restore system should work better.

We have completely lost the recent posts and the images are in the wrong place, but at least we have all the members and settings from before.

Sorry for the inconvenience, David

The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is surprising.
Thanks to you and Steve for sorting it out.

Forum Update time again

Unread post by davidb »

.
At present the forum is little used, so I am about to attempt an update myself, Steve Booth from RVSC used to do it in the past. It is 3 years since the last update and there have been quite a few changes to the software.
.
If it all goes wrong, we can decide whether to continue with a fresh install, or just give up to it and rely on Facebook.
.
We might end up with a differnt link to the new one, but I can always send out an email about any changes.
.

cheers, David

Good luck Dave👍 I hope you don't loose the forum as I don't use Facebook and I know a lot of other people don't.
It's a security thing.

Thanks Mick,

I have just had a go and uploaded a few files as a test, but you wouldn't believe the complexity of this task! I shall leave it for today and see if I get a response on this help forum: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewforum.php?f=661

I am "kingorry" :!:
cheers, D

Whatever happens, thanks for all your computer work over the years, I'm sure everyone appreciates it. Will have to go back to pre windows or WhatsApp as I'm not doing Facebook.

We shall get there in the end, I'm getting some good advice from that other forum and we'll get there in the end. It might have been easier to set up a new one, but I really don't want to lose all the history in this. Absent friends, and all that.
