RIVER LUNE

REPAIR WORKS TO PLOVER SCAR LIGHTHOUSE

Repair works are due to start on the Plover Scar Lighthouse in the River Lune at co-ordinates 53º 58’.894 N, 002º 52’.959 W, week commencing 3rd September 2016, and will be on-going for a minimum of fourteen weeks.
During this period a safety exclusion zone for all vessels is being imposed between the lighthouse and the MHWS line on the eastern shore of the River Lune estuary, which covers the transit area for the contractors. The exclusion zone applies to all watercraft, including sailboards, jet skis and canoes. The buoyed channel will be kept clear at all times, but mariners are advised to proceed with due caution in this area, and to keep clear of the Lighthouse structure, crane and scaffolding.
