Looks like the old faithfull will be saved after all...

Edited section of SMIT post, why can't English companies look as efficient as the Dutch..
Costs of a complete rebuild of this listed building would be in the region of 2,272,452Euros (1.8 Million GBP).
The Dutch salvage company SMIT have proposed an alternative for the shipping company that are liable for the damage
They are considering building a steel frame with an inflatable collar to actually lift the damaged top section off the lighthouse base..
Due to the urgency of the repair before any winter gales that could cause the lighthouse to topple from it's base,
If this worst case scenario did occur the cost of repair could quadruple with navigation for the grain carriers put at risk.
They estimated a max of 250 metric tons could be lifted on a Spring tide and towed ashore for strengthening. Then a reverse procedure for re bedding back onto it's base.
They are also hoping to use their New medium sized salvage platform HM.St1looflirpa which is easily capable of taking this weight..fantastic or what, cameras ready.
If the proposal is accepted and the Shipping Companies insurers agree, the work could start as soon as early to mid Summer 2016 weather permitting. They expect a window of approx eight to ten weeks for the work to be carried out, weather permitting.
The access to and from the River Lune would be restricted to urgent traffic only, notification of this would be placed in all Nautical publication, radio, tv and mail to all companies, businesses and recreational users of the River Lune up to the Lancaster Basin.
....the rest of the article is relevant for the by-laws, Duchy, Heavy equipment access, pollution..etc.....
Better get our sailing in before or after, though it looks as thought it may not be finished before the Summer Cruise...
Alison and certainly Brian said he found out late yesterday about the proposal , so things seem to be moving fast, well until the lawyers take full command, then it will come to a shuddering halt.... let's hope not!
