Pre Christmas Quiz and Social - Sat 12th December

Unread post by valsimpkin »

.

The last few Christmases, we've started a bit of a tradition of having a quiz night and have had some great nights with quizzes devised by Jeff and Chris. This year, we're keeping that tradition going and our Quizmaster for the evening, on this occasion, will be Jim Cruise Esq. Jim has put together a quiz which is entitled 'Mainly Maritime' but don't be worried that it's all about sailing - it's not! Some clever connections and something for everyone will ensure this is a night not to be missed!

There'll also be mince pies, maybe some silly hats and, of course, fabulous prizes to be won!!

Saturday 12th December - 8pm. Last chance for a get together before Crimbo madness sets in! Hope to see lots of you there!

Just a reminder about the quiz which is still on, despite the power cuts and flooding - unless anything else happens to prevent us, in the interim! We're sailors - we thumb our noses at bad weather!

Just a note, in advance - the pellet stove is currently out of action, unfortunately. We were supposed to be having a visit from the engineer but we're probably not at the top of the priority list, so whether that will happen before Saturday ... However, in its absence we'll be drafting in the old electric heaters which I understand are much better since the roof was insulated (somewhat unsurprisingly!). Might be worth wrapping up just in case it's not balmy

Hope to see lots of you there for our pre-Christmas get together. xxx

Just a reminder, the video was a lot shorter than the sound clips (which are cutoff as well) that's why it keeps repeating, The video was actually taken at a different time to when Val made us sing carols. A great night again, thanks Val

I keep telling people what a "good do" it was..... and just realised that I haven't said anything on here, or thanked Jim. It was perfectly pitched. Too easy and it's not worthwhile. Too difficult and people just give up.And it was obviously all his own work, tailored to his audience. Biggest mistake I made with a quiz was last year, getting half of it out of a book. Sorry about that.
And thanks Val too for getting the mince pies and excellent prizes. These things don't just happen.
