Easter Dinghies & Dayboats (even Cruisers)

Unread post by Michael »

We have a full programme at Easter, something for every day and almost everyone:

See the board on the OOD Box for details each day

Friday - Millennium Bridge Race - starts at 1015 hours. Ideally we race up to the Maritime Museum and then race back. However it depends on who is willing to help with the duties. We may just race up to the Carlisle Bridge and go through one arch and return through the other and have just one race. It has been possible in the past to have a race in front of the museum making three races in total. I don't know what the clearance is under the Carlisle Bridge? Anyone?

Saturday - Lighthouse Race - starts at 1110 hours. Just one race round the lighthouse - this is suitale for everyone, dinghies, dayboats and cruisers not on the shakedown cruise.

Sunday - The Carlsberg Trophy - first race starts at 1145 hours - the first trophy race of the season proper - two or three races round the racing marks - trophy presented afterwards

Monday - Lighthouse Race - starts 1230 hours - details as Saturday

i can get as far as the millenium bridge in the wayfarer & L17 at HW. The mast height of both is around 24', I tried to measure it from the railway footbridge once with a gallon can of water (that's 10 lb) on a length of rope, Believe it or not, the wind blew the thing out at 45 degrees, but I seem to remember getting about 30' when it did settle down.
I can't make it for 3 weeks, so have a good un.
I spent most of my money on Booze, Women and Boats. The rest I wasted.
We're born naked, wet and hungry - then things get worse

be carefull when passing below the bridge at lancaster, make a note of the train times as if you are below when they cross you may be met by a wall of falling icicles and then quickly buried beneath a snowy avalanche, this will in turn have a detrimental affect on the stability of your craft and the welfare of any crew, safety helmets are strongly advised, as is a spade, if a spade is not carried a centreboard may suffice to clear away any snow from decks ect, although if there is fatalities among the crew then they should be packed in snow and stored in the focsle until rescue can be affected, usually around june. happy easter

More good news - I'll be the OOD on all four days - I'm on antibiotics so I suppose I shouldn't sail.

Two boats from Morecambe are coming.
