I'm not sure what this is about, it sounds like there is a dispute between British Waterways and the Basin Marina .

Strange! I thought BW had bought the marina 5 years ago!

There is a notice about the stoppage in the Marina office window.

Stoppage: Glasson Basin Lock 7

10 Jun 2011 until further notice

Associated Regional Office: North West Waterways

UPDATE (10 June 2011): Glasson Basin lock 7 has become too dangerous for manual operation and as a result we have ceased operations with immediate effect.
An emergency meeting will be held on Monday 13 June to review the situation and to look at how the safety of operating the sea lock can be improved in the short term and in the long term.

Once we know the outcome of that investigation we will update this notice accordingly.
An up-date will be isued on 14.06.2011

Drove over the top lock today which had been filled up at 13.30hrs, five men in BLUE - I asume waterboard men not the fuzz - were gathered around the operating mechanism for the top lock earnestly discussing I know not what. Hopefully normal service will be resumed ASAP.
