I have seen yet another boat scratched this weekend due to the docking arms of the trailer catching the hull.

I reckon, to be safe, your docking arms need to rise at least 3 feet above the gunwale when the boat is on its trailer, and it is far better if the extension is plastic pipe.

So that is three boats I have seen scratched this season, and we have only just got going!-

Also, whatever you have to hold the stem needs covering in rubber on all surfaces.

Good point! docking arms need to be "robust" and high enough not to foul rubbing strips. It has to be remembered that boats will float well above the trailor at the rear, whilst being in near contact at the the bow. If the boat park was of the same angle as the slip the foregoing wouldn't be a problem. It's something to do with trignometery!!
This problem can be discussed at length any evening 17.00-18-00. During Frank's happy hour.
