Outboard and Driver for Hire wanted this Saturday or Sunday

Unread post by Birchhsail »

Hello Everybody
Not yet a member of your sailing club yet but hope to be soon.
I have purchased a Yacht on Windermere and I need to motor it six miles for lift out onto transport
to Glasson Marina. Colvic Sailer 26.
I am trying to arrange a tow by Maiden Marine who are doing the lifting this Monday at 9AM but they are
mad busy at the moment.
I have a 3.3HP Mercury and a good inflatable for an alongside tow but have been advised that this is too few horsepower. Is there
anybody that would like to hire themselves out this Saturday or Sunday with their five or six HP outboard?
Light winds from the SW forecast so may be able to sail most of the way but need a backup. The yacht will be
re-named Rhiannon when I arrive on the hard at Glasson Marina.Apologies for the essay and short notice.

Hi Stephen, quite a few years ago I had a fouled prop at Lune 1 buoy, about 5 miles downchannel from Glasson. Luckily I had an emergency bracket on the transom of my Hunter Horizon 26. I fitted my Honda 2.3hp outboard on and came up with no problem, so you may be ok if it’s calm. Brian
