Another Picnic on the Sands attempt?

Unread post by davidb »

.
...........................................

We have, on the calendar, another date next Saturday for a low water trip down the river:

http://www.glassonsailing.co.uk/calendar.html

I have just sent you an email reminder about the Viking Invasion on 14 June, and the musical evening next Saturday. I wonder if I should send out another email about the Potential Picnic?

Please let me know if you are interested, and when we have checked the weather forecast, I shall send an email to all members who we hold and address for.

This can be a very enjoyable trip if the conditions are right - its all down to the weather.

It was a great day at the club today, a lot of pottering around going on. and even a little sailing! Whatever next?

cheers, David

The forecast for Saturday's day out leads me to suggest it could result in a rather unpleasant picnic.
Pilling sands can be a most unpleasant exposed place in cool easterly conditions, strengthening during the afternoon.
Will review the forecast during the next 36 hours.
Hope to have a more optimistic report !!

Plenty of room out there for dogs to run around, but as Ivan says, good weather is crucial.

Sorry guys,Survival on the sands is off.ESE 4-6 dictates the event is, without doubt, not a good idea.
Although,, if any brave souls wish to continue with the plan, suggest they continue, crossing THE LUNE DEEPS, settling on MORT BANK !
The silence and solitude is even more intense------more a "deathly silence".
But, don't let me spoil your day.
You may enjoy it !
Downpours, thunder and lightning could add to your experience.
See you in the clubhouse.
Ivan
