Sat 17 November - Trip to the Pub Anyone?
All things being well, weatherwise, does anyone fancy a sail upriver to the Golden Ball at Snatchems on the 17th Nov?
High tide is 13.10 and it's a 9.68m tide. I think someone with more knowledge than me will be able to say what time we could all reasonably get away from Glasson - between 11 and half past??? (I know little of the matters!!)
Norman Whewell and Ken are up for it, as are Jeff and I - anyone else? (I think Justin will still be away unfortunately)

Me & Aurora are game - Brian, are you out there?
If snatchem's is closed we'll have time on the big tide to get to Lancaster quay.

We have dinghy racing scheduled for that day but if the dinghy racers want to race up to Snatchem's that's fine. It's a bit too far in the cold for me.

This is a copy of some of my comments on "Frostbite Series - 17th & 18th November - Dinghy Racing"
I was beginning to think I was more of a whimp than I already thought I was because I wouldn't sail my GP14 up to Snatchem's/Lancaster on Saturday but I think Ivan's experience has justified my conviction - see Ivan's comments on "Frostbite Series - 17th & 18th November - Dinghy Racing".
Ivan and I are 74 years old, Ivan's coming up to 75, he's a few months older than me.
When I first took up dinghy sailing, sailing up to Lancaster was an adventure and I couldn't understand why the hardened dinghy racers wouldn't do it or were reluctant. I can understand now. I sailed past Snatchem's with Steve and Misty and we only did a couple of tacks the whole time and that included turning round.
All the sailors really enjoyed the afternoon's sailing so please don't think I'm trying to get you not to do it and like Mick says there are many more suitable days before next cruising season starts - just look at the dinghy programme to find them. If another day or days are planned we can cancel the scheduled dinghy racing, thirteen boats on the water is better for the Club than just five or six dinghies.
