50th GALA NIGHT

Unread post by doug gorton »

What can I say ? Val organised this with consummate proffesionalism and the evening went flawlessly. From the mass of feedback I have had, the night was deemed to be a roaring success. A SPECIAL THANK YOU VAL and also to the members that supported her.

I second that
I spent most of my money on Booze, Women and Boats. The rest I wasted.

Yes, thank you Val and Doug sooo much. We realise that these things don't just happen without a lot of time and effort - many people don't work so hard as you did for the 50th Anniversary Celebrations in their (paid) day-job!

We have long said that GSC members are a formidable force when they combine their many talents, and can do anything they set their minds to. It is usually referring to making/building/mending things, but did you know that we also have a flower arranger, and a balloon expert?

So many people are now enjoying the outdoor seating area, from alfresco breakfasts onwards. Projects like that one too don't happen without major efforts from the Committee, thank you. And it looks like once it gets too cold to sit outside, we are having a new heater in the Clubhouse.... well, that big box says "Aga". They never stop working to improve the Club. Thank you again.

I was sooo relieved that all the marquee, bar and entertainment worked well - but have to say that the finishing touches of the floral and balloon decorations were just wonderful - also the walkway from the path to the marquee and the extra lighting laid on.

Apologies to those who missed out on pudding - my fault entirely - the caterers had put the desserts under the tables, as there wasn't room for everything to go out at the same time, and I failed to notice the strawberries and extra desserts. Sorreee

The most fabulous part of the evening had to be the wonderful sunset we had though - when you think of the summer we've experienced, how lucky were we to get that! It was amazing!

Hope everyone enjoyed it :)
