We moored to the seaward buoy of the two inside GSC moorings on Wed/Thurs last week returning from Anglesey. As requested by Norman the mooring was inspected, cleared of weed and looked OK. However on drying - a piece of steel was seen protruding from the sand/mud only a boats length to the shore side of the buoy.
It looks like the remains of an anchorage point for an old mooring - now revealed by erosion of the bed hereabouts. Whilst it would not be much of a hazard to bilge-keelers it could be deadly for lifting-keel boats. It is about 9" to 12" in height and 1ft 6" in length.
Be warned.
