Bring-a-spade Party Sat 30th May

Ian has decided that we are going to have to crack on with the boat park surfacing even though we have not found any source of cheap hardcore.
-
He is turning down applications for boat parking, so it is false economy to wait for materials any longer.
-
In a week next Saturday at about 10 am, at next neap tides, he would like a party of AB sailors to come and dig a narrow trench ( one spade width ) along the edge of the area to be reclaimed in order to bury the edge of the "Terram" fabric we are going to lay in order to de-water the ground underneath. That will stop it from curling up like it has done in other areas around the park.
-
Then we shall park a few empty trailers on it until the hardcore has been tipped on the Terram. There will be a bit of scrap tidying up to do on the day as well.
-
-
Perhaps we could finish the day off with a barbeque if it turns out nice? And possibly the day after - Sun 31st May, we could have a low - water survey trip down the Lune? to see where the channel really is? If you have not done it before, it is quite an experience.
-

In the meantime, as said before, it would be a good idea to keep an eye open for road planing work in the local area, ( Lancaster to Preston ) and then to ask the wagon driver in person what they can do for us. Guide price about £6 - £8 per tonne

The access is good for 8 - wheelers if they ask, perhaps 6 loads would do it
-
Ian can be contacted on 07864858690 or email me
-
This could save the club a lot of money.

Thanks for your help, David Booth

hi Dave
30th hmmm don't know about that, it a funny BD preasent lol but i may come a give a hand if i can. Anyway back to the plainnings, has anyone got in contact with a local ground works company or a plant hire company (with larger plant)? I ask this because i descovered that our local digger hire sell the road plainings and hardcore at a cheap and cheerful price.

Thanks

Sorry we won't be able to be at the digging. It’s Cuerden Valley Park’s fair and we’ll be on duty from 0600 hours to 1800 hours, we committed to help last year, only just realised that the dates clash.
