Round the Isle of Man Race
Round the Isle of Man Race
I have been expecting some posts about this race, it is now less than a fortnight before the start. I've been privileged to be asked to sail on Chablis so I know Chablis is racing. Any other boats definitely racing?

Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Hi Michael as far as I know the following boats are going to the IOM race, On Friday Morning 1/5.9 : Penny Diamond, Misty, Rice Pudding, Jetwind , Billy Ruffian, Triagos, Lopud, On Friday Evening Martyn ( Pandora 700 ) . With this wide selection of boats covering 3 classes we have a good chance of some Trophies, plus the club squadron prize . Fingers crossed for fair weather. The race notice is available in the foyer or at http://www.msandcc.org Ps. may be we will settle for just completing the course.
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
If anybody fancies crewing on Lopud, we have a few spare bunks, loads of room on the windward rail, and a couple of places on the oars
. Let me know

Lopud is the one on the left. Sonny helming and John sorting the bow. I thought this might attract crew as offered in message above - lovely boat & crew.

Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Not that good, I've heard they've got weevils in their ship's biscuits.
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Biscuits, no luxuries like that aboard Lopud!!!! What with Jetwinds new sail, Big John stripping Penny Diamond out and the new "wind" generator to blow Triagos through the Doldrums I might just allow a packet of Maltesers aboard.
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
i heard the weavils on lopud had found their way under the engine cover and were boiled alive, sonny claimed they made good eating, but theres no more left.
i,ve heard from other people that strange sounds can be heard from the aft cabin, john claims its the wind genny, but he would wouldnt he!

Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Any remaining weavels (and everything else on board for that matter) will be easily found as we slowly move everything into the bows as the tide ebbs in Ramsey
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Hi Jason, you are more than welcome to join us I will be up on Lopud in the marina at weekend, so can meet you up there if you want a chat. If its anything like last year you will have plenty of new jokes to tell, or be the butt of several more, thats if you survive the sleep deprivation !!!!Jason Kennedy wrote: I make a great cup o tea, like a pint, jovial and got good jokes to tell.

Good photo Dave, but your inflatable dinghy looks odd at that strange angle

Also Michael on Byrons PY website there is now a PY rating for an Hunter30 (Chablis) with an IB2 ,has Chablis an IBF. ? Please let me know and I will publish the 2009 Glasson PY no's many thanks John. http://www.byronsoftware.org.uk/bycn/
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
John, we are hopefully arranging a special lockout on Thurs evening. Will find out over the weekend and post on here.
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Anybody else going over to Ramsey on Saturday? Dont think I am going to be able to lock out on Thursday, and rather than get no sleep crossing over Friday night thought I may cross on Saturday instead. Weather looks better as well on Saturday.
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Jason, I left a message on your mobile on sunday, just going to send you an email now.
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Florence is planning to leave the Dock on Friday (am) for Ramsey. Not "racing" and not too sure of crew!
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Hi John, We might go Saturday instead as well. It's giving 6s/7s at the Isle of Man on Friday, Saturday looks a better bet.If we do we'll lock through on Friday afternoon.
Re: Round the Isle of Man Race
Brian, we are definately going Sat morning now, the forecast of wall to wall sunshine and not being able to get out of work this afternoon to lock out of the marina has forced me into this decision.
