Wilf Holloway (Hound Dog)

Unread post by Michael »

Dear Friends

Wilf Holloway has died

We think at home but we’re not sure. He had had one chemo treatment and was due for the second one. Perhaps, with hindsight, we can now see that Wilf knew that things weren’t working out when he asked Mick and Norman to sell his boat.

There’s nothing I can think of saying but I’ll try and let you know when the funeral is.

Love, Michael

A really interesting person, who over the past two years became a
good friend. I will miss Wilf. It really is a sad day for all his family
and all those who were close to him at the club.

Dress & Donations

Unread post by Michael »

Anne, Wilf’s widow, has asked that people attending the funeral please DO NOT wear mourning clothes.

She has requested that people don’t send flowers. If anyone wishes to make a donation instead of flowers please make cheques out to:

either

Ward10, Westmoreland General Hospital, Barrow-in-Furness

or

Kendal Cancer Support

and send them to the funeral directors:

Ruxtons Fishwicks Funeral Services
1 Wildman Street
KENDAL
LA9 6EN

Thanks, love, Michael

Hello, what a sad loss we have suffered.

There was a good one I had of Hound Dog and Aegis sailing alongside of us to Liverpool festival a few years ago, but seem to have lost it.

All the best, David

We were influenced by the poster of Wilf.

Perhaps members could write of their experiences with Wilf?

Just to say there were a large number of members at Wilf's funeral, which is a tribute to Wilf as a person and hopefully brought a little comfort to Anne.

Hi all

We,Little Hog Owners, are please to annonouce we have purchased Hound Dog.

After what has been a sensitive sale; Mrs Holloway has given us her blessing to enjoy our sailing in Hound Dog for the future. She is pleased that Hound Dog has come to us and knows Wilf will approve. We have had our first night aboard and enjoyed a dram of whisky plus a toast to Wilf, who's only wish was to have sailed more.

We hope Wilf looks down and is our Guardian Angel in the adventures to come for us.

Well over £900 was received by Anne in memory of Wilf for the two charities. She was told by a friend that there were over 100 people at Wilf's funeral.
