Part of Roger's AGM report

Commodore’s Report;

.
Roger started by thanking everyone for attending the meeting. He summarised the year by reporting on some good and not so good issues. He started by noting the sad loss of two key characters of the Club ie Frank McDermott and Ian Atkinson, they would be missed by many.
.
He then went on to note the steady level of membership throughout the year and the stability this created, however the quest for new and young members continued. He noted the work done in the Clubhouse, ie refurbishment of the galley, rewiring, some redecoration of the lounge and bar/cellar and upgrade of the ladies’ shower area. This had almost all been done by internal volunteers and was in part a response to the recommendations within membership survey.
'
Externally Stafford continued to lead on general maintenance of the telehandlers, arrangements were being made to remove Frank’s caravan and to apply for a change of use to a touring caravan pitch. He pointed out the unacceptable behaviour of dumping old tyres around the site. These were being removed at a significant cost to the club and persons found to be tipping tyres in the future will be brought to account for their actions.
.
He pointed out the many enjoyable club events both on and off the water and hoped the weather would be kinder next year to allow more to occur.
The Commodore concluded that the Club was in good shape and that he hoped the incoming Committee would feel in a position to nudge the club forward in areas deemed to be a priority. He hoped that the membership numbers would continue to be sustained next year and further support the sustainability of the Club.
.
Awarding the Hawtin Trophy; The Commodore said that as always, this task had been particularly difficult for him as there were so many worthy potential recipients. However, for stepping forward in our time of need and for his continued support of the bar service he was awarding the trophy this year to Kevin Chambers.
