Re: Picture of Glasson pre club
Could that be a mini (first made in 1959) outside the caribou.
Re: Picture of Glasson pre club
What a gem. A few years ago Val arranged a guided tour by Dr White from the university. He spoke about a dry dock in the past. Is that a lock gate at the top left of the quay?
Re: Picture of Glasson pre club
At the top left is the dry dock, you can still see the entrance in the stonework. The expanding exhaust factory was probably a sideline of Nicholson's boatyard which used to build coastal sailing vessels in the drydock.

Conservation Area Appraisal
If its OK with Chris, I have saved the picture and will include it in the archive section of our website when I have got it up to date.
I was wondering what date to put on it and wonder if it was before the Liverpool Dock Strike ( 1995 - 1998) when the dock came back into use for coal imports - because in the picture, all we see is pleasure boats in the Dock.
Whilst looking into it, I came across an interesting PDF from the council this spring:

Re: Picture of Glasson pre club
Date is before the founding of G.S.C and if my suggestion of a Mini outside the Caribou after 1958.
Re: Picture of Glasson pre club
Is it definitely a mini George?
perhaps a mini van?
( my first car)
and, seeing as it would be almost brand new, why is it parked on rough ground?

The other car on the waste ground looks like a Ford 100E Popular/Prefect/Anglia. If it is one then the other motor is the right size for a mini.
