Re: Bovines

Yes, not really like Pamplona. But hey, you know how it is, that Now What! moment when you realise that if things take a turn for the worse then out on the sands there is no hiding place ha ha!

Dynastart

This is the starting and charging setup on Suzi. The dynastart still functions as the starter and the alternator is driven off a double pulley on the dynastart to charge the batteries

Re: Bovines

On the way back across the wide open sands the beasts abandoned their interest in the dinghy and came at a brisk trot in my direction! So i detoured into the water and was quite relieved to get to the dinghy that way.

Re: Piel Trips - dates for the diary

Hi Jem, Got to the club with the wind picking up and being over tide we decided not to go. Sitting here back in Withnell with the rain lashing down i can,t say i,m sorry! We,ll look at it tomorrow and if it seems favourable we may go then. Ian has gone. We had a ride to Overton and saw Chablis going...

Re: Piel Trips - dates for the diary

Hi Jem, Suzi usually takes around 4 to 5 hours from leaving her mooring to arriving at Piel . We aim to leave just before or on hw. After clearing Lune 1 west cardinal buoy we then head for walney light if possible and on that heading we should have at least 1.5 metres under the keel on the shallowe...

Re: Family cruise

Hi John, Well, i,m fairly confident as he did say he would not give it to one of his lads! I think i should practice sharp intake of breath whilst steadying myself on the corner of his bench.

Re: Family cruise

Actually John i think you have hit the nail on the head there as unregulated sounds like that is what has happened and my guess is the regulator was at fault initially- but we,ll see.....

Re: Family cruise

Hi John, Thats good info but the whole shebang, dynastart, regulator and starter relay is now with an auto electrician in Chorley who will test everything and then give me the bad news! - that is when he gets off the phone to all his other customers. I think i will haul Suzi out to do the job as the...

Re: Family cruise

Hi Doug yeah, bummer but hey, there is always next year! Thanks for the tip re the manual. Re: Family cruise

Are the buoys getting further apart in the channel or do i need new glasses? Anyway, if all that lovely Scottish beer has affected your eyesight and you are desperately missing your home port ha ha, here are the positions (near enough - and according to my 30 year old GPS!) of the 2 important ones a...

Re: Family cruise

Hi John, Yes, that could be the way to go but i will first test the dynastart with my meter. Thinking about it i have a horrible feeling that it may have been my fault! ie the ignition switch may not have returned to it,s normal operating position and has remained on start thus drawing current conti...

Re: Family cruise

You lucky people! We got back to GSC today at high water. Pull starting a diesel is not recommended, it,s not a lawn mower! Anyway, does anyone have a complete electrical charging system for the amazing Ducati air cooled - dynastart, regulator and solenoid oh yes, and a lot of wires!
