A little more info. It is Thomsons tidal prediction machine from 1876. It's tempting to think that the world was invented last week but a visit to the science museum in London has put paid to that idea!

Why buy tide tables when you can hand crank this machine for just 4 hours and get tidal predictions for a whole year!

Good tip, I will check the plug on my Honda 2.3 which i thought was a bit reluctant to start from new, unlike the suzuki which always started first pluck.
