Forthcoming events - a couple of questions

Hi, A few questions about the forthcoming events - I seem to have misplaced the copy of the last calendar and don't have a copy of the Mainsheet at hand. 1. When't this year Shakedown cruise? I couldn't find it in the calendar on the web page; 2. What's the Millennium Bridge race? 3. Where can I fin...

Re: Mooring near Piel?

Thanks Mick, that's great. Bit busy, eh?
Do you know what happened to the boat that's after "the promise of a grand morning" - couldn't figure out, either it's heeling heavily or the mast is falling off?

Mooring near Piel?

Hi, Being new-ish to the Bay area and planning the first outing to Piel, a question - where to moor there? I'm looking at the chart, there are "small craft moorings" marked to the east of it - is that where it is? Am I right in thinking they don't dry out at low tide? Most crucially, how d...

Re: Propellor Thieves?

As a thought, been there today and noticed that there's a camera on the grain barn's wall facing the approach towards the Club's gate (it's not one of ours, is it?).
I guess in case of, touch wood, something going amiss, the grain people could be asked to share the footage?

Re: Pay as you go internet dongle

Hiya, I've had a Vodafone one - had to buy it during the last house move since it takes Sky about a month in total to get broadband going. Worked fine, and the speed was enough for usual browsing and some minor downloads. As a matter of fact, a colleague of mine said she doesn't have BB any more, an...

Re: International Cert of Competence

Hi David,
I might be interested - put me down provisionally, although all depends on particulars.
Just checked the RYA website, it says the ICC itself is £40 for non-members, free for "qualifying members".

Anybody up for a sail?

Hi, I'm after some company - I've got a 21-foot cruiser ("Ingria", Vivacity 650, the first one to the left from the yard entrance) and would try to get on the water in September, most probably second half, Piel or similar. PM me if you're interested, I can either give more details or arran...

12" trailer wheel needed

Hiya, I'm looking for a replacement trailer wheel rim - the old one rusted through and doesn't hold air. It looks like finding an exact match for what I've got in terms of half a million dimensions ain't that easy! So if by any chance anyone's got what I'm after... The dimensions are: 12” 4.5J, 4 x ...

Sailing on Windermere?

Hi, I wonder if anyone has had any experience with day sailing on Windermere, launching from Ferry Nab (i.e., not being moored there, just visiting). On paper everything looks fairly straightforward and fairly cheap - a fiver or tenner for registration, and then a tenner for sailing, overnight and 2...

GRP repair specialist neeed

Hi, I'm a new Club member, joined a few months ago, so it's my first post here. Could anyone recommend a shipwright for a GRP-related job? I've got a bit of a deck compression problem on a 21-footer, so the deck needs strengthening from underneath; looks like a day's worth of work (most of it sittin...
