I won't be there in person at John's funeral tomorrow but I will be thinking of him, his family and many friends from GSC during the day.
I know he will be greatly missed.

Greta shot. Is this from a publicly accessible camera and if so could you post the URL. I often view from https://www.webcamtaxi.com/en/england/l ... e-bay.html which also has problems with spiders.

For Windermere, the pictures are shocking. I read that 63 boats broke their mooring during the storm, with lots sunk, others washed up.

Thanks to all who helped with the running of the regatta. It was lovely to be at and see many people at the club this weekend, both on and off the water.

Re: First trip of the year
On this topic, am I right in assuming that after March 29 I will be able to go to the club and launch my dinghy for a sail, accepting that I won't be able to go into the clubhouse? This does of course presume that the government roadmap does not change,

Battens found
Walking from the slipway to the race control box, I found a set of 4 battens in the middle of the grassed area - 2 roughly 9" long and 2 roughly 12". I have put them in the clubhouse in front of the signing in book, next to the bar.

Old picture
I realise there is no shortage of old pictures of Glasson. I have however not seen this one before, it being taken c1950 for the Francis Frith company, he being the man credited with "inventing" the seaside holiday postcard. The name on the side of the building (not easily discernable from...

Glasson Railway Station
After the excellent quiz on Saturday (thanks to all the organisers), my wife and I rode to Carnforth on the Sunday, in particular the railway station museum, where I spied the below picture of Glasson Railway Station. I wondered if anyone knew where in Glasson the station was and maybe could identif...

I found the latest edition of Mainsheet to be a great read, in particular the articles by Roger Pearce and Mick Bull. Well done to all concerned. Oh, and remember what you say in hearing range of the bar - those faux pas may come back to haunt you!!

I sailed past it yesterday. It does look a good job. Not sure why there is a yellow marker buoy to the north (I passed to the south!!).

Joiner/odd job man
Does anyone know of a person in the Lancaster area that could renovate an outdoor decking area, replacing several planks and treating? I don't suppose I am necessarily looking for a high quality carpenter, more for a good joiner or odd job man - there are a few other odd jobs that could be undertaken.

Local tradesman
I need some work doing on a terrace house in Lancaster. 1 - Straightforward repair of guttering (urgent) 2 - Replacement of some rotten wooden decking planks(fairly urgent) 3 - New wooden door frame for garden back door(not urgent). Does anyone know of good local tradesmen/man who could tackle these...

The large number of mourners at Giles' funeral is a great testament to the man he was. He will be sadly missed.
