Ivan Haslam

Very sad to hear of the passing of Ivan. He was a great dinghy sailor and was always ready to share his knowledge and experience. He could tie any knot in the blink of an eye!

Re: covid warning

Hi John, we too have covid with symptoms starting on Monday also. Like you, the anniversary was our only social event in the past week. We did lateral flow tests and both were positive. I have also received a txt from track and trace this morning telling me I am a close contact with someone who has ...

Re: Bon-voyage Kesbo

Great stuff Andrew! Getting to Piel was bad enough but the 9hrs to Liverpool in those conditions is not something I am in a hurry to repeat. Memo to self: At 5 a.m in Walney channel with wind over an ebb and lashing rain a red light to starboard doesn't necessarily mean you are heading in the right ...

Re: Day Boat Sailing Dates

Nice sail up river yesterday but a pint or two at Snatchems would have made the tacking on the way back less tedious!

Re: Moving forward.

I have 2 moorings in the river and would be willing to loan them out until I get back to England! Inspect them first though and maintain as necessary. No responsibility accepted if your boat ends up in Lancaster!

Quiz night

Great quiz night last night. Thanks to quizmaster Jim Cruise for setting some curly questions. Name of Long John Silvers parrot? What instrument did Mick Fleetwood play? Etc. The hot mince pies went down a treat. Thanks to Chris Booth for the prizes all packaged festively!

Re: Battens found

Possibly mine, I took my battens out and rolled my main up there and now I can't recall if I picked up the battens. Defo took the sail back to the boat! Will check tomorrow.

Re: Moonrise over Foulney

Coming back from Piel we marked the buoyage in the channel using a handheld GPS12. Interesting results when compared with my 1992 chart. We didn't get right on top of the buoys but the results are accurate enough to enable the buoys to be seen. We did them all up to 14 with one notable exception whi...

Lovely spot David with lots of interesting craft on the river. This one and another very similar boat caught my eye. They appeared to be wooden carvel planked?
