A Cautionary Tale

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/5f85ac6c8fa8f561ce5417d7/2020-SB2-Diversion.pdf Amongst other shortcomings in his Eberspacher installation he was using one of the pressed steel silencers which are intended to be fitted under road vehicles and are not gas-tight. I had one myself but I...

Re: C-MAP app

Just have done Mick, turned off both WIFI and mobile data - works perfectly. Not sure if it always will, maybe it's a free trial period. You can upgrade to premium version for approx' £35 this lets you download charts for anywhere and can show other ships if linked to AIS etc.

C-MAP app

Just discovered this app and I'm very impressed. It turns any tablet or smart phone into a chart-plotter, it even includes weather and it's free!
downloadable from Google Playstore or Apple Appstore.

Cruising

Wandering round the boat park on Sunday after the (excellent) visit to Index Marine, I was struck by how many capable-looking cruising yachts we have nowadays. I know the days of the classic family cruises are long gone but maybe some sort of informal cruise in company could be managed?

Re: BBC petition

I've signed Pete's petition too.

Whoever heard of a corporation
(a) being able to charge you for its products whether you want them or not?
(b) being able to prosecute and ultimately jail you if you decline to pay?

Sad News

Many members will remember Michael and Sue Swarbrick who were active and long-serving members of the club until a few years ago. I am passing this sad message on for the benefit of those who haven't already heard. Dear Friends Sue died at 2345 hours yesterday, Saturday 25th January 2020 It was very ...

Re: Calm evening at Glasson

Hello Pete, I get the same when I look at the post on my phone, I click on the small box to download the image but nothing happens, so I look in my download history and I see the following message: "Access to oi1162 photobucket.com was denied". It still looks fine on the PC though.

Re: Calm evening at Glasson

That's exactly what I did David. I put the photo in Photobucket and pasted its web address into my post between the Image. It looks fine on my PC in both versions. The first version was 1.09 Mb, the second 328Kb. What's the problem ?

Dolphins

We were crossing the Solway Firth recently when we were buzzed by a pod of about 16 dolphins. I've often seen them before though not in the Solway and I've rarely had them come so close to the boat. Hazel took a video on her phone which is much better than my snapshot but I can't find a way to post ...

Whitehaven Marina

Whilst I was at the club over the weekend several members asked me about Whitehaven Marina where I am currently keeping my boat. This video gives an impression of it. The video was made for the Marina so it's obviously going to show it in the best possible light but I think it's pretty accurate none...
