Anglesey Trip

Unread post by davidb »

Good morning we've just completed a night passage which we had previously said we would never do again.

And now I remember why . all went well until we got near to Anglesey . The big currents coming in in from st. George's channel knocked us back completely. So we were thoroughly shaken and stirred.

Now anchored at Moelfre. not been here for a long time. The last time was a family cruise with 15 glasson boats. Happy days!

Yes, glad it kept its distance! Liverpool got s few strikes, as did the gas rigs. We also had some big dolphins just before it went dark..

Just missed your message , it wasn't sheltered crossing the mouth of red wharf Bay.

Just starting on swellies 14.15

Edited, now tied up in Victoria Dock, phew, time to relax.
1600, not bad, 24 hours since leaving glasson

Set off for Porth Dinllaen at 8 this morning from Abermenai anchorage. Now moored in the bay just ssw of the lifeboat stn. Hoping for the wind to abate. 34 boats from Conwy were squeezing into Victoria Dock yesterday! Then they were off to Abermenai so we left them to it, we'll go back tomorrow.

You can see us in the distance on this webcam, I think.

Having had had a roly poly night in in Porth Dinlaen we set off this morning for the straits again and spent the afternoon anchored off pilot's cove.

Currently on a mooring off port dinorwic so tomorrow morning we go back through the swellies and across the Irish sea to Piel Island.

I wonder if there will be any one at the club on Tuesday morning please to help us get Sandpiperper back on the trailer?

calm.jpg

The best (for us) conditions ever to sail home from Menai yesterday. Yes we even sailed. And it was calm enough to eat in a civilised way at 18.30 before mooring at Piel at 20.00, 2hrs before HW.

THANKS to the Johnsons for maintaining the moorings, and to Colin for letting us use his. BIG thanks to 2 shoreside Daves for recovering us at GSC half an hr before HW this morning.

Ah, trying to be civilised. But I spotted the bucket at the stern. Once a leisure owner always a leisure owner.
Well done you two, hope we see it all in the mainsheet

Too hot for proper butter out of the fridge, and too cold/hard straight from the fridge, so one has to compromise with this inferior product.
