GSC Regatta - Stuff to know

Assuming the weather co-operates the aim is to do some sailing........ and have some fun

Saturday 26th HW 14.55, Launch by 13.30, Start 14.00 hrs
Sunday 27th HW 15.32, Launch by 14.00, Start 14.30 hrs
Monday 28th HW 16.13, Launch by 14.45, Start 15.15 hrs (although HW is 8.05m so deep draught boats may choose to decline...)

Tasks to be set dependent on the weather but we aim to do a Lighthouse run on Saturday and a Snatchems trip on Sunday in the first instance, but can re-arrange to suit attendees and weather.

Because of the later tides and some of the ladies being involved in a more important engagement (wedding !) the food provision will be very much a 'Jacobs Join. Yes there's a BBQ on Saturday night and Sunday night but people need to bring their own stuff (be generous and imaginative) as they see fit. Anything brought needs to be cooked by themselves and cleared up afterwards by themselves.

As per Val's posting there's going to be a cracking group on on Saturday night and guests are welcome.

There's jobs to be done.... drivers, race starters, brew makers, patrol boat crews etc but I don't want to over-organise things and would prefer to let things happen. Let me know if you want to 'bags' a job.

Keep an eye on the weather and fingers crossed.

Regards

Roger

Hi Roger

From the times you give it might not be possible to get to the start line in time, as dock gate Dave is reluctant to open the gate till the water has balanced.

Would it be ok to start are time as we cross the line? for we have to get the sails up as well.
Last year they had set off before we got out of the dock, and as you know sail should be down in the dock so we still had to put the sail up and get to the line.
And the gates close on high water so not a lot of time to get back if we are starting later.
Thanks in anticipation.

Mick,
Fine. Start when you can. I'll see if we can extend the gate closing time for Saturday + Sunday.

Roger

Hi Mick
Sounds a good idea at least it will give you plenty of time to refloat off that sand bank you keep getting atached to.
How was your trip to Isle of Man?

Fantastic, it makes a difference with a decent boat but I'm happy with mine.
I was trying to keep off the wheel down the lune but Andrew pretended he had to do something important so I faithfully stuck to the buoys, something I don't have to do with mine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVEEgCksyLs
