I have just made and installed a new mooring webcam. I made it at home and had to estimate the zoom, pan/ pause length and speed. Soon after installing I found that I may have underestimated the pan length may just falling short but a slight reposition may get all the boats on, also just bring the boats into a better view as the zoom lens has dropped slightly.
After it has run for a while under test I will adjust these.
What I need to know from all the owners of boats on the mooring is what speed of panning would you like?
SLOWER
AS IT IS NOW
FASTER
Please do let me know (ONLY MEMBERS ON THE MOORING, thanks) as I can set the system to the majority vote.
Hopefully in the coming months I will try to introduce other features as time will allow.
Cheers
John

Re: New Mooring Webcam..What speed?
Hi John
Thanks for your work so far.
I think that the speed is pretty good as you have set it, you don't have to long to wait if you have just missed your boat for the next pass.
Thanks again.

Re: New Mooring Webcam..What speed?
Hi John, I am new to the forum but my boat is out there. Am I right in thinking that the webcam address is in the members area? How does one get a password for access?
The webcam is a great idea.
Cheers, Alan

Re: New Mooring Webcam..What speed?
Hi Alan,
I have sent you an email with the details..
Just to tell you that it is running under test conditions and since setting it up on Saturday the barrel of the Zoom lens has suffered the droop, that has the effect of putting the view of the boats nearly out of shot and the focal point has shifted slightly short, also the pan length was guessed and does miss a couple of boats,,
These will be remedied in approx 10-12 days but it still gives an insight into how the ones that do show there keels that all is well.
I hope yours is not missing......"On the Camera"...hi
I think another Alan is missing, occasionally on the return scan the rudder does just come into view.
Cheers

Hi John,

I have just got back to find the Ip address of the weather computer changed, it is now 86.23.60.53
so I shall reset the web page with that to get the streaming working again. See how long it lasts this time

Re: New Mooring Webcam..What speed?
I have been tweeking the mooring web cam today and gave it a greater pan length, unfortunately the boat at the very end of the outer trot is masked by the smoking house.
I have though allowed for the other vacant moorings just in case they become taken.
The focus is improved and will allow you to zoom quite a bit with your browser and still retain quite a lot of detail to see where your mooring lines lay..etc.
Hopefully the system will run stable as a few settings and mounts have been improved.
I ask any members not to touch the unit and alter any of the controls as they are quite critical in their settings due to the high magnification used.
If you would like any alterations please do ask and I will endeavour to help if it is possible.
Cheers
