Underwater obstruction

The wooden keel that surfaced on Ian Hutchinson's mooring some weeks ago has moved. It is now on my mooring (no 11). There are 4 x 25l cans attached to attempt to lift it, but THEY ARE NOT VISIBLE AT HIGH WATER. Anyone sailing around the outer mooring trot, beware!

I would not like to restrict the forum to members only. quite a few potential members join the forum before they join the club We could ask that non-members e-mail one of us if they wished to register, and then assign them a temporary user name; if necessary we could change this when/if they join t...

Hi Derek, I was thinking about David's banning @gmail.com a long time ago. You're right of course about not knowing good from bad names if we followed my suggestion, but I should have thought that the number of non-legitimate registrations conforming to the pattern would be v. small. David might hav...

You did try banning @gmail.com addresses before. It doesn't affect existing users (mine is a gmail address), but I don't think it materially affected the number of unwanted registrations. Suggestion: allow only restricted user names, eg. <given name><family name><GSC number>. Then John Smith number ...

re: Spammers

It might be a help, but phpbb users suggest it won't stop unwanted registrations, just unwanted posts.

It's not that likely that blocking an IP address would affect another of our members. If it did that person would no doubt complain and we could unblock it. It seems a lot of hassle going down the whois route.

I've been getting rid of them all weekend!

Does phpbb allow an invitation only registration?

EDIT

It seems others would like this too:

Regalia

Dave the Draper (David Nichols) used to look after buying and selling of Club regalia, but I think he no longer does. As far as I'm aware, we do still have some items (hats, shirts, sweat shirts) in a box in the store room. You could perhaps ask Frank (Bar) or Hazel (Soc. Sec.). Your size/preferred ...
